Read Across America Week, February 25-March 1

On Monday, February 25th, Orchard Park will kick off Read Across America Week. This week will be inspired with reading activities as we celebrate the great author, Dr. Seuss. Below you will find several activities that will take place this week.

Character Potatoes:

Students are challenged to decorate a potato from home to imitate a favorite book character. Bring to school to be placed in the library on display. 

Book Cover Wall Art:

Students may choose to enter Dr. Seuss inspired art into a Seusstastic Gallery of images.

Daily Events:

Monday, February 25: Green Eggs and Ham---Dress in green

Tuesday, February 26: 500 Hats of Batholomew Cubbins---Wear your favorite crazy hat.

Wednesday, February 27: Wacky Wednesday---Let’s get silly! Wear your clothes inside out, backwards, or mismatched.

Thursday, February 28: Sleep Book---Wear your pajamas. Students will cozy up to a good book from 1:30 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Friday, March 1: Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!--The Cat in the Hat---Support Read Across America Day with Seuss Spirit! Dress like the Cat in the Hat by wearing red, white, or black.
